The Mississippi Harper’s Ferry 1846 shown below in the gallery represents the U.S. Model 1841 in it’s first year of manufacture by federal Harpers Ferry Armory. Long considered the most beautiful example of a firearm in the 19th century the U.S Model 1841 or “Mississippi” as it was to become known later in the Mexican American War and the Civil War shot as well as it looked.
Coming in at just under 49″ and weighing 9lbs. the Harpers Ferry saw use by frontiersmen, and both sides of the Civil War alike because of it’s fine shooting and functional yet very robust build quality. This firearm comes to The Gun Room Inc. in original dress wearing brass furniture and lacquer on the barrel and is fine to very fine condition. Fully functional and shootable The Gun Room Inc. has it on display until it finds a new home.
Stop in to see the “Mississippi” and many other fine guns from the period to see a piece of history.
