Steyr S9A1 9MM Pistol

If you are new to hand guns or are a combat veteran with multiple tours the Steyr S9A1 may be for you. Steyr’s legend starts back well over 100 years ago, in fact the family and region is known for quality weapons dating back as far as the 1200s. So what makes the futuristic looking Steyr S9A1 any different than say the flavor of the week polymer (plastic) pistol?

From the novel triangular sights, to the grip angle, and low bore axis the Steyr S9A1 pistol is an instinctive shooter that requires very little effort to get on target for that first shot and following shots. The Steyr S9A1s’ design allows for a high grip ensuring positive muzzle control for even the smallest to the largest of hands.

Ten rounds in the magazine means this is a compact pistol with plenty of power for those shooters who follow the spray and pray technique. One thing I should note is that the Steyr is an easy to point and shoot pistol and one can’t help but make great shots like a pro so forget about spray and pray. Your shooting technique will improve with the Steyr whether you want it to or not. You can’t help but put rounds in the 10 ring with a Steyr and your friends with pistols from that other well known Austrian firm will get a case of severe envy.

We fed every kind of ammo that we had at the shop thru one of ours and found that the Steyr S9A1 gobbled it up and asked for more without a single stoppage. The trigger pull on the Steyr S9A1 is about as good as it gets for a striker fire type of firearm and uses a much better trigger safety than on other striker fire pistols we shoot for training and recreation.

As for carrying, the Steyr S9A1 makes for easy concealment whether inside the waistband or outside depending on your outfit and some concealed carry coats seem to be made with the Steyr in mind.

if you’re curious about the pistol that looks like it came from a silver screen sci-fi flick come on down to The Gun Room Inc. on SE Foster Rd. in Portland Oregon and see one for your self.

Here’s a random video from someone else talking about the Steyr S9A1 so you won’t have to take our word for it.

Milo’s Pic Of The Week

This whole last week Milo took some time off to get in a bit of quality range time with the Smith & Wesson 640-1 Pro Series.

What can Milo say but “Pretty Bird” he absolutely loves this pistol, this work of Smith & Wesson’s Performance Center high art. Milo loves that it shoots +P ammo non-stop, and with the cut out cylinder Milo uses moon clips for his quick tactical (or tacticlaw in Milo’s case) reloads. The Smith & Wesson Performance Center 640-1 Pro Series is meant for easy carry, easy concealment, and easy target acquisition due to the Trijicon night sights Smith & Wesson saw fit to include.

I’m not sure Milo’ even ate any crackers or peanuts this whole last week. Milo and Mike have been at it for days and they both have this pistol. If you are more of a sparrow than a parrot and don’t want to shoot full house .357cal you can also shoot .38 special which greatly reduces felt recoil and knocks the edges off some of the bark.

Smith & Wesson Specs from their page below:

In 1995, Smith & Wesson introduced the Model 640, the first J frame revolver chambered in the powerful .357 Magnum round.   Based on Model 40 Centennial, the Model 640 is a small frame concealed hammer revolver that packs a full-sized punch.  The Model 640 Pro Series integrates the time-tested features of the original with modern advancements and competition specifications and features.

Milo’s Pick Of The Week Remington 700 Lapua Magnum

The first week of February always has Milo preoccupied with setting up a long range shooter for when the weather breaks here in the Northwest. Milo’s preoccupation this season is with the Remington 700 action chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum. While other lame ducks are still trying to hop up the old rifle with a wildcat cartridge Milo takes the off the shelf approach and goes with Remington’s tried and true Model 700.

To say Remington’s 700 action is robust would be an understatement. The Gun Room Inc. is Remington’s Pro Custom Shop in Portland, we get the really really good rifles here in the calibers Milo demands for his bird brained shooting drills.

Milo used to shoot the Barrett .50 cal but now prefers the .338 Lapua Magnum because the bullets are easier to carry and easier to come by.

To get your own 338 Lapua Magnum come see Milo at The Gun Room Inc., call us today (503)777-3931 and get that extra special model made just for you.

To BAR Or To Not BAR

The answer is to BAR! (pronounced bee-ay-arrr)

You heard it correctly The Gun Room Inc. has a new Colt BAR un-fired in collectible case with certificate of authenticity.  Yes to say I was excited would be an understatement, when I walked in and put my dirty sandwich grabbers on this pristine rifle I almost had a “Saving Private Ryan” moment. I’ll be watching that movie tonight, my girlfriend doesn’t know it yet, but yeah absolutely cherry BAR!

Pics to come soon I’m a bit too amped up to hold the camera steady for this post.

Want to see it in person? You know you want to! Come by and talk to Warren, Shaun, or Steve and ask to see it.

Milo’s Pick Of The Week

This week Milo has taken a liking to the Forbes M24B Rifle wearing Kryptek camo on the stock. Milo likes this rifle for hunting in the mountains since it’s light and accurate and chambered in the calibers he likes to shoot. The Forbes M24B comes equipped with Talley scope rings that allow the shooter to attach their quality optic of choice for high precision shoots when the mountain critters have the advantage.

Milo likes the non-reflecting barrels that absorb light instead of reflecting it like other lesser blued rifles do. Milo’s approach is simple, when you draw a once in a lifetime tag you should do everything in your power to fill it. The Forbes M24B is a force multiplier, it’s extremely light materials and better than most engineering make this rifle one to look for if you are in the high country or even out in the plains. We always hear Milo chanting “ounces equal pounds, and pounds equal pain” and Milo would know since some of the world’s best hunters come through The Gun Room Inc’s doors.  All Forbes Rifles come fitted with recoil pads and sling points as standard.

Milo is so wound up about the Forbes M24B right now that he says if you come get one in the Kryptek Highlander or the Typhon camo patterns he’ll throw in a matching Kryptek Gun Room Inc. hat for free.

The Forbes M24B is no longer in production but as per usual The Gun Room Inc. has them while the supply lasts in .270, 6.5×55, and 30-06. No one made a rifle in this weight category as good as Melvin Forbes and they continue to be the best lightweight gun available today.

Call The Gun Room Inc. today and get the rifle of your dreams before next season.

Sig Sauer Model 320 Modular System Adopted By US Army

When the dust settled from the highly competitive contract there were only two firearms makers left; Glock and Sig Sauer. During the 2017 Shot Show it was announced albeit a surprise to the competitors that Glock had been dropped like Beretta, and FN leaving only Sig Sauer Standing.

To celebrate Sig Sauer broke out the bubbly and passed flutes around for a celebratory toast to those present. Breaking the 30 year reign of Beretta and it’s 9mm platform made people cheer out loud, especially service members like this one who had a strong distaste for the aging model.

Most of the current military and Iraq / Afghanistan veterans I’ve talked to have regarded the Army’s decision as legit and definitely couldn’t come too soon. Some of us old timers never dropped the 1911 as a mission pistol and some of the branches are bringing it back again.

“By maximizing full and open competition across our industry partners, we have optimized private sector advancements in handguns, ammunition and magazines, and the end result will ensure a decidedly superior weapon system for our warfighters,” Army Acquisition Executive Steffanie Easter said said in a press release.

In their statements, Army and Sig officials didn’t specify what caliber the new Sig Sauer pistol will be.

Sig touts the P320 model product as “modular” and “adaptable,” with interchangeable grips, multiple sizes and calibers that can be converted between 9mm, .357SIG and .40S&W. “From calibers, to pistol size, to the grip fit best suited for the shooter, the P320 is the most adaptable pistol available today,” the company says in promotional materials.

Milo’s Picks Of The Week

Gun aficionado and expert Milo shares his picks of the week at The Gun Room Inc.

First pick by Milo is the Sig Sauer Legion in .40 caliber

The Legion has an external extractor, ergo furniture, all metal construction and fits Milo’s claw for fast draw and target acquisition.

Milo’s second pick this week is the Remington RP9 in 9mm

While Milo doesn’t usually like plastic on guns he likes the Remington RP9 for a lot of reasons. The trigger is pretty good, it holds a goodly amount of ammo, and it doesn’t break the bank.

Last but certainly not least Milo’s first last pick is one of our favorites the Colt 38 Super Competition in you guessed it 38 Super.

Milo really likes the way it points and shoots but of course it’s a Colt and it’s a 1911 so nuff said there.

Keep checking back every week for more Milo picks, he works for peanuts so he’s paid well!
